Passed away peacefully at the Lake of the Woods Hospital on October 18, 2023.
She was courageous brave with her short battle with cancer, she was laughing and joking on her last days.
Papadis was predeceased by her parents Louis and Olive Desrosiers, her sisters Cecile, Josephine and Mariah Linklater, her brothers Tommy, Gabriel and Peter, her late husband Francis Tom Sr., son Calvin, her grandson Russell. Mary Jane and Joe.
She is survived by her children Mary Ann Cascanette (Reg Cascanette) Karen Desrosier, Kimberley Tom, Francis Tom and Matthew Tom (Baverstock) Celine and Emily and her grandchildren, Vera Desrosiers, Hazyn, Liberty, Mallory, Addison, Two Turtles, Iyra, Ocean, Marvin, Stoney, Gary, Phyllis, Karen, Jonathon, Sherry, Darren, Robin, Janis and Carol. Many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren too many to name. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and cousins Louise Mandamin, Linda Williams, Margaret Favel and her friends Lulubelle Naymaypoke, Jane Tom, Catherine Hunter, Helen Joseph and many more.
Papadis loved her beading, quilting and yard work until her eyes and legs could no longer do them. She loved her casinos.
She loved travelling; her last big trip was to Edmonton to see the Pope and meeting new people.
She worked at the Naotkamegwanning Justice Committee for 25 yrs, she enjoyed the conferences to learn new things. She was well respected by all her colleagues.
She loved the outdoors in her early years, fishing, hunting, cutting wood, boating and snowmobiling.
Christine was a confident, knowledgeable, humorous, respectful, crafty, traditional woman,who loved teaching her traditional ways and craftwork to the youth. Papadis was known for her humor, kindness, helping others and her laughter. Papadis was an excellent cook and was the go to cook for community events and meetings. She truly enjoyed cooking for the crowds.
Many thanks to the nurses and staff at the Lake of the Woods Hospital who cared for Christine in her final days. A big thank you to Rose Joseph and Debi the palliative nurse.

Niibebiin and Maajaa'iwewin will be conducted by Mide'kiwenzie from Kieshgitabaaning and his helpers for Christine ' Papadis' on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 12:00 and Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:00am with burial to follow in Whitefish Bay First Nation.
