It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Brian Nash, a resident of Animakee’Wa Zhing #37, announce his sudden passing on the early morning hours of April 6, 2020, after a courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease at the age of 63 years.
Brian is survived by his daughters Andria (Chris), Larissa (Kenny), and Brianne. His auntie Mary Helen Joseph. Brothers Ken, John, and Stuart (Carrie) Nash, Walter Cowley, and sister Rhonda (Mitch) and cousin-sisters Delores Lein (Mike) and Irene Cowley. His beloved grandchildren Mira, Arelle, Skyen, Kieran, Shiloh, North, Emmett, and Silas. Nieces Starla, Whitney (Alwyn), Shandi Rose (Patrick), Kerrie, Lacey and Robbie, Nephews Troy and Zachary (Danielle). Grandnephews Breven, Omry, Jordanson, Carter, Jacoby, Young Charlie, and Kaz. Grandnieces Starlene, Starlow, Diana, Ashlyn, Ariana, Raven and Araina. As well as numerous cousins too numerous mention.
He was predeceased by his father Charlie and mother Rose Nash, brother Joseph, and sisters Diane and Marlene Nash. Paternal Grandparents John and Annie Nash nee Hunter. Maternal grandparents Charlie and Mae Joseph nee Skead. Nephews Jordan and Randy Nash, and Dominic Henry, and niece Shandi Marie. Granddaughter Lara Kennedy Johnson. Uncles Harry, Francis, and Fred Joseph, Peterson Nash, and aunties Mary, Catherine, and Margaret and Frieda and Katy. Great uncles Bill, Arthur, Alex and Clifford Skead, and great auntie – Cecilia Jack. His good friends from Totem Lodge John Haas, Ken Cutler, and Richard Hammett.
Brian was born in Kenora, Ontario on July 26, 1956. He graduated from Beaver Brae in the 1970’s, worked at the old Town and Country in Kenora for a number of years and spent many summers guiding for Totem Lodge, Red Indian Lodge and Crawford’s Camp. He also spent a few years on council and worked as an economic development officer and a band manager for Northwest Angle #37. Brian was most happy and cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and loved his many grandnieces and grandnephews whom he considered as his own grandchildren. He loved joking around and had a wicked sense of humour. He loved making others laugh.
Brian was one of the best fishing guides and considered above everyone else. He will be sadly missed by a lot of his guiding buddies Dan Kelly, Walt and Joe Pritchett, Hiram Archibald, Moon, Rob Baconator, Patrick Joseph, Mitch White, Norman and David Linsday, Claude LeBlanc, Ron Everson. special friends he kept in touch with Laurie Kelly, Chris Liucani, Lise Coriveau, and Becky Haas.
Funeral services will be held at his residence house at 341 Animkii Drive, wake services will start on April 9, 2020 at 10:00 am and traditional services will start on April 10, 2020 at 10:00 am and burial to follow where he will be buried by his father Charlie Nash.
The family wishes to thank Animakee Wa Zhing #37, Grand Council Treaty #3, and the family for all their help and assistance during this very difficult times.
The family asks that we celebrate the life of our beloved dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and great uncle as he starts his spiritual journey back home. Brian is now with all his beloved family members passed on before him, free of pain and suffering. Fly high until we meet again.
