Albert Gallik
November 3, 1940 - October 27, 2013
Gallik, Albert Thomas, with broken hearts we are sad to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandpa after a long courageous fight. Albert left us on Sunday October 27, 2013, at Saint Boniface Hospital. He was born November 3, 1940 in Kenora, Ontario. He was predeceased by parents Thomas & Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Genevieve of 51 years, 5 daughters Teresa (Steven), Rita (Doug), Ellen, Carrie (David), Rosie (Aaron), 3 sons, Tom (Rhonda), Tim (Colleen), Jamie (Tara), and 11 grandchildren that were dearest to his heart Kelly, Tyler, Mike, Troy, Mercedes, Jennifer, Jade, Joshua, Tamara, Megan, Joanne. Albert is also survived by 3 sisters Mary Aube, Magdalena Gallik and Eva McDonald, and 2 brothers William and Richard Gallik.
Albert and Genevieve began their memories on Rocky Heights. Albert started his journey working at the local paper mill and found the career he loved when he started at Devlin Timber as a grader operator. He always came home after spending long hours grading English River Road to tell us stories of the animals and adventures he had each day. Albert was also named “Turtle” and if you ever knew him or passed him on his grader or truck you will understand his nick name. Albert was very mechanically inclined and if something needed fixing he was the one to see. At times he had a very creative way to fix it. Albert enjoyed planting his garden every year and keeping his yard groomed. Most importantly was his sense of humor in always making someone laugh and sitting down and starting a conversation “so what do you know”. Albert loved life and the beauty of it.
Albert spent the past three years in and out of Lake of the Woods Hospital and a fighter is he. Our thanks to the amazing nurses who made his days always end with a smile and letting him have his “ball of gum”: Doctor Clay Hammett, Doctor Dana Walters, the whole team at the Kenora District Hospital, and Saint Boniface Hospital. You all left a special place in Albert’s heart.
Dad We Love You. Grandpa We Love You. My Husband I Love You.
