Sennie Sanders

Sennie Sanders, age 97, of Stokesdale, North Carolina passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. Sennie was born September 20, 1924 to the late Archie and Sally Spencer. She lived at Arbor Ridge at Stanleyville in Winston Salem, NC for the past 8 years. Sennie was Valedictorian when she attended high school and she carried that hard work and intelligence throughout her life. Sennie enjoyed working and did not retire until she was seventy years old. She was an amazing woman who touched many people throughout her life.

Sennie got married when she was sixteen years old and moved to San Diego, California and built a life there for herself and her late husband Hollis Sanders. Hollis was in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California which is why she moved across the country. The first thing she did when she got to San Diego was find a church named San Diego First Baptist where she attended for many years. Sennie was strong willed and would give you advice at the drop of a hat when you needed it. She was always genuine in her encounters and would light up any room she walked in to.

Sennie loved to travel and she was always ready to go anywhere at any time. She enjoyed to be out in her garden and do landscaping. Square dancing was her passion and danced with the Smyrna Squares for several years. Music was also her passion she would often be found listening or singing to music. Above all else though she loved her children and would do anything for them. Sennie was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family would like to thank Trellis Hospice for the amazing care that they provided for Sennie and them through this difficult time. The family would also like to ask for in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston Salem, NC.

Sennie is survived by her daughter Linda Sanders; and her son Fred Sanders (Diane), Sennie is also survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren

Sennie was preceded in death by her brothers Byron, Bill, Jimmy; her sisters Virginia, Evelyn and Ella Jay.

A catered reception for Sennie will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM. A burial will occur Friday, June 24, 2022 at Mars Hill Cemetery.
