Robert owned and operated Bob’s Pump Service for several years. He enjoyed his work, drilling wells and installing water pumps, a trade he learned from his father and grandfather. He moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1982 and worked for Southeastern Sales as a maintenance supervisor. In 1974, his sister, Bess introduced him to a lady by the name of Shirley Merchant and on September 12, 1975 they blended their families and remained married for the next forty-six years until his passing.
Robert always made sure that everyone in the family stayed their course. One would say that Robert was a man’s man who could fix anything with a roll of duct tape and a coat hanger. He also enjoyed going to Nascar races and having quality time as a family. He also really enjoyed taking Shirley to bluegrass festivals and family camping trips to the mountains.
Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Kelley Mann; brother, Clarence “Eddie” Pike; sister, Ruby Jackson; and brother-in-law, Gary Jessop and Paul Shollay.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pike; sons, Donald Pike, Robert (Lori) Pike, Terrance Pike, Chip Pike, Paul Mann, J.T. (Deana) Whalen, and David (Stacie) Whalen; daughters, Debbie (Jeremy) McClure and Lisa (Doug) Lohmen; brother, Donald Wayne (Taylor) Pike; sisters, Mary (Kay) Guessford, Bessie Shollay, Susie Jessop, and Judy (Gary) Seal; twenty-one grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, grandpup, Gipper; ex-wife and lifelong friend, Dorothy Stotelmyer Blair; and close family friends, Bryan Baker and Melissa Snyder-Pike.
