R. Larry Bowman, 74 years old of Kennesaw, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022. He was proceeded in death by his father, Leonard, his mother Delores and his brother, Donald. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughters Angela (Jason) and Faye (James); and 6 grandchildren, Jeremy, Ethan, Jack, Evelyn, Charlie, and Tillie.
He was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida. After high school, he got a summer job at Eastern Airlines and quickly fell in love with airplanes. In May 1972, Larry met Linda. He proposed on July 28th and they married on January 6th, 1973. Shortly after the birth of their second daughter, they moved the family to Georgia. That’s where Larry discovered a new passion – Shotokan Karate, earning a Black Belt a year later.
Always looking for a silver lining, when Eastern went under, Larry went back to college. He graduated in 1995 with a B.S. in Environmental Geology, from Georgia State University. All the while Larry worked multiple part-time jobs, including a Janitor for his Temple to support the family never letting his pride get in the way.
After graduation Larry and Linda resumed a mutual passion – travel. They cruised to Alaska, England, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey. And they visited almost every U.S. National Park.
Larry was a great Husband, Father and an even better Grandfather. A quiet man, Larry had a great sense of humor, a big heart, and was loved by all who knew him.
A visitation gathering for Larry will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, immediately followed by the Memorial service at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. A private inurnment will follow.
