Phyllis R. White, 77, of Kennesaw, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her home after an extended battle with breast cancer. She was born on April 29, 1939 in Samsville, IL to the late Duane and Marie (Kempton) Reid.
Mrs. White grew up in Albion, IL and graduated from Edwards County High School in 1957.
Phyllis married Bruce D. White in 1960 in St. Petersburg, FL. They were very happily married for 36 years. After 15 years in St. Pete, they moved to Cobb County where she lived for almost 42 years. Mrs. White worked over 16 years in the medical department at Lockheed Martin in Marietta. She was a faithful member of Northwest Christian Church in Acworth since 1975.
Phyllis was a highly awarded bowler, she volunteered for many years with church and youth sports leagues and she was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. But mainly she loved raising her sons and then spoiling her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce D. White and siblings Keith and Yvonne Reid.
Mrs. White is survived by her three sons, David of Acworth, Larry (Alison) of Kennesaw, and Thom (Beth) of Powder Springs; and three grandchildren, Alex, Amanda (Saxon) and Sarah.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastors Ron Mobley and Jay Rice officiating. A visitation will be held at the same location on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
