Oliver Jackson Jett Jr.

Oliver Jackson Jett Jr., 92, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his lake home in Eufaula Alabama. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw Georgia. Mr. Jett was a Georgia native and worked for Westinghouse in Atlanta where he retired after 40 years of service. He graduated from McHenry High School in Rome, Georgia in 1942 and was Baptist in faith. Mr. Jett enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Hee Haw, Dancing with the Stars, and the News. He was a very regimented person, and in his spare time he liked being a shade tree mechanic. Mr. Jett was born February 8, 1924 to Oliver and Bessie Mae Jett, and he married Virginia Louise Longdin Laughter on March 31, 1945. Mr. Jett was a Cobb County resident for over 65 years. Folowing a hospitalization, he had been staying at his lake house in Eufaula, Alabama under the care of his daughter and son in law. Mr. Jett was preceded in death by parents Oliver Jackson Jett Sr. and Alice Bessie Mae Baugh Jett, his wife of 62 years, Virginia Louise Jett, one sister Gloria Ann Jett Timms, and one brother, Bobby Guy Jett. Survivors include his daughter Carol Jett Garren (Wayne), 2 sons, Ralph Lewis Laughter and James Alan Jett, brother Danny Joe Jett (Debbie), 8 grandchildren, Glenn, Robin, Tina, Dawn, Blane, Jamie, Cody, and Christy, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends and family from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Jett will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
