Max was born in Blairsville, Ga. on 12/24/38. He moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1945. He is survived by his wife June Hunton King, three children: Kristi, Kandi (Alan) and Kraig(Tiffani) and six grandchildren who called him "Papa". He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Rev.Paul and Lela King and one brother Otis King.
Max is a graduate of Sprayberry High school and Chattahochee technical College. He was a black belt in karate, was a weight lifter for over 40 years! He had a fully furnished gym in his basement and was a trainer. He loved motorcycles and passed that love to his son,Kraig. They traveled around racing for many years. The girls rode motorcycles too. Max was known for his sharp wit that never left him at a loss for words. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He was blessed with dry sense of humor, a charitable heart and an ever present smile. Max worked for Coca-Cola for 38 years. He took early retirement at age 55 to be become June's Mary Kay Cosmetics Office Manager. He was a member of Coca Cola's Bowling Team. He took over the kitchen when he retired and loved to cook for family and friends. Max was a former member of Northstar Church in Kennesaw and a present member of Piedmont Church in Marietta. He enjoyed doing devotional after breakfast every morning.He was a member of the Cobb County Sr. Citizens Council. Max enjoyed all the years of supporting his children in sports, cheerleading, motorcycle racing, dancing, and modeling. He worked tirelessly coaching little league baseball and football. He was a respected Boss, Mentor and friend. But his most cherished title was "Dad".
He enjoyed traveling with June as a "Mary Kay Husband". They went to most European Countries as well as Canada and Bermuda. His most treasured trip was was to Hawaii to celebrate his Golden Wedding Anniversary. He and June were high school sweethearts and married for 59 years.
Max and June spent many happy years entertaining their children, grandchildren and friends at their White Stucco cottage on the Coosawattee River in Ellijay. He was an avid Elvis Presley Fan and attended most of his live concerts and his home in Nashville long before Elvis' untimely death. He had copies of all his music and movies. He favored Elvis in his younger years and loved the attention he got because of it. He enjoyed Gospel and Country music also. Max and June square-danced and clogged for over 30 years. Their children clogged too. Max liked yardwork, planting flowers and having a garden every year. He enjoyed his harvest with his family, friends and neighbors! His freezer was always full.
Max's Eulogy: He lived, loved, laughed and used all his skills to be a devoted Christian, a great husband, Dad and Papa. He was a loyal employee, a treasured friend. He was respected by all who knew him. As a result... he became all that God had intended him to be.
