Julie "Josephine" Pittman

Mrs. Julie Josephine (Jo) Pittman, age 79, of Marietta, GA., passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Mrs. Pittman was born on August 14, 1938 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, a daughter to the late V. R. Dockery and Della Marie Dockery.

Jo spent most of her life as a Cobb County resident. She was a devoted member of East Wood Baptist Church and loved attending services there. She loved her Sunday School class and all its members. Her career was spent working in the Deli at Kroger for over twenty years and working for the Cobb County School System as a Cafeteria Assistant. Some of Jo’s favorite hobbies were reading, cross stitching, working with her flowers, and playing with her animals. She was also an avid history buff. Her greatest joy and accomplishments came from being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother; she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Along with her parents, Jo is preceded in death by her husband for forty-seven years, Mr. Henry C. Pittman.

She is survived by four children, Bob Cain and significant other, Libby, Joyce Martin, husband Gary; Tim Pittman and Jack Pittman, one brother, Mark Dockery, wife Marie; sisters, June Floyd and Marie Mull; sisters –in-law Annabelle Peterson and Madelyn Baily, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Josephine Pittman will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Rolling Hills Cemetery in Acworth, GA.
