CW4 Ret. John Harvey Stanton Jr., age 74 passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. John was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. John retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of dedicated and honorable service to our country. He was Vietnam War veteran. John loved to fly and his passion for aviation led him to his second career with Flight Safety International. John was a family man and cherished the moments spent with them. Our country is indebted for John's service.
John is survived by his former wife, Susan Stanton; his son John Stanton, III; his sister Mary Plescia; his brothers Kevin, Donald, and Bill Stanton and his granddaughter Taylor Stanton.John was preceded in death by his parents Anita and John Stanton, Sr.; his brothers Paul and Robert.
A chapel service for John will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 11:00 am at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
John will be laid to rest, with military honors, in Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia 30194. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to your favorite military charity or to Samaritan's Purse, samaritanspurse.org.
