Harold E. Gayton, 85, of Acworth, died Saturday, March 14, 2015. Funeral is Monday, 2pm at New Zion Baptist Church in Acworth with Rev. Danny Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Acworth, Mr. Gayton was a Navy veteran and a Lockheed retiree (1973), where he worked for over 20 years as a Machinist. An avid historian, Harold loved to hunt for Civil War relics. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping, which he loved to do with his grandkids. Mr. Gayton will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife – Evelyn I. Gayton of Acworth, sons – Benny McClain of Rockmart and Carlton McClain of Cedartown, daughter – Janice Fuller-Stephens of Acworth, and his mother – Gertie Gayton of Kennesaw. Harold is also survived by his grandchildren – Adam (Kathy), Ami (Rodney), Wes, Ben, Jennae (Brad), Kim (Waymond), and Ashley, along with the great grandchildren – Carli, Chloe, McClain, Carter, Griffin, Jake, Isabella, Drew, and Benjamin.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-9pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw which is in charge of arrangements.
