Faith Margaret Richards Adamson, age 84 passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 lovingly surrounded by her four children. Faith was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin to Dr. Raymond and Alice Richards. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta and enjoyed being part of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for 54 years. Faith was an avid reader, talented seamstress and knitter. She also enjoyed traveling, dancing and being with her friends in all of their clubs (book, canasta, bunco, etc…), but her greatest joy was being Nana.
Faith is survived by her daughters Kristin Adamson Mulder (Tjeerd), Amy Katnik (Brad) and Laura Glancy (Mike); her son David Adamson (Julie); her sister Susan McKinley (Jack); her brother Randy Richards (Wendy) and her grandchildren Erin, Brett, Kendall, Gunnar, Nicole, Grace, Conor, Maggie, Katherine, Hannah, Lily, Earl, Celine, Justin and Jasmine; and her great grandchild Luella. Faith was preceded in death by her husband Derry Adamson.
Faith was a graduate of the University of Colorado. While an undergrad she went on a blind date with Derry who was a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy (Derry volunteered for the date at the last minute when the original blind date got sick), and it was love at first sight. Like many military families they moved around quite a bit being stationed in Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada, France, Washington, Alabama, Wisconsin (while Derry served as a rescue helicopter pilot in Vietnam), Illinois, San Diego, California and finally in Destin, Florida. As Derry’s career as an Air Force pilot took him away for long stretches, Faith dutifully and lovingly devoted herself to raising their four children. Following Derry’s military career they lived a few years in Endicott, NY before finally arriving in Marietta, Georgia where Derry finished his career as an engineer for Lockheed Martin. Faith and Derry celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2010.
A gathering of family and friends for Faith will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm with a celebration of life service to follow at 3:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
