Edward Cleo Lester

Edward was born February 12, 1930 in Tallapoosa, GA to the late Ebbie and Viola Lester, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany tasked with the reconstruction effort after WW11, Edward was proud of the country that he served. After his tour of duty in the Army he gained employment at Lockheed Martin in Marietta Georgia where his career spanned 40 years.

Edward was strong in his faith and attended Elizabeth Baptist Church where he served God faithfully. Edward was a kind, compassionate and friendly man who never met a stranger. Edward’s other endeavors were enjoying wood working, yard work, the Atlanta Braves, and to cook and bake sweets for his family and friends. Above all else Edward loved his family and always wanted to be with them, he was a loving son, husband, father and friend, Edward will be missed by all who knew him.

Edward is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Juanita Lester, and by 8 brothers and sisters, he is also survived by daughters: Shelia Martin, Mona Bourque, son-in-law Mark Bourque, and grandson: Zakkery Martin.

A visitation for Edward will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.

A second visitation will occur Friday, September 2, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

The funeral service will occur Friday, September 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM and burial will occur the same day at Pine Ridge Memorial Park, 2950 Cobb Parkway North, Kennesaw, Georgia 31052.

The burial will be followed by a reception serving refreshments and appetizers at Winkenhofer’s on-site pavilion.
