Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather
Forever Loved, Forever Missed,
Forever in Our Hearts
Thomas Richard “Rick” Beasley passed away peacefully in the loving care of his wife , Dianna Cantwell Beasley, at the age of 69. Rick and Dianna shared forty years of married life. He was her hero, her Knight in Shining Armor. She was the light of his life.
Family meant everything to Rick. He is survived by his grandson, Thomas Richard “Ricky” Beasley III (Kari Butler Beasley) and great grandson Thomas Richard “Ryker” Beasley IV, of Waynesville, N.C. He is also survived by his brother David Beasley (Marah Adams), nieces, Avery Elizabeth, Abigail Riley, Adison Renee and Ava Jenci Adams.
Rick was preceded in death by his son, Thomas “Richard” Beasley II, of Gastonia, N.C.,
his father, Wallace David Beasley and mother Vivian Beasley of Claxton, Ga.
Rick joined the Marines at 17 and fought in the Vietnam War. As he often said, “Once a marine, always a marine”, and remained true to those values and standards. He worked as a Contracting Officer for Everglades National Park and SE Regional Caribbean district. Afterwards he moved into the private sector as a Commercial Property Manager and Small Business Owner in North Carolina. He was a Mason and served as Senior Deacan in Gastonia Lodge #369 from 2003-2006, was a member of the Gaston County Oasis Shrine and member of the Gaston County Shrine Club. He enjoyed flying in small airplanes, and earned his private pilots license in 2000. Always community minded, Rick went through the Gastonia Police Department Citizens Police Academy, enjoyed assisting in ride-alongs and working special events.
The family would like to send their sincere gratitude to Passages Hospice for their help with Rick's care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pontchartrain Humane Society. [email protected], or by mail at Pontchartrain Humane Society, P.O. Box 6895, Slidell, La 70469
I have done things that haunt me at night so you can sleep in peace.
I have been away from my family a long time so that yours can be safe.
I have sacrificed a lot in my life so that you may live free.
I have done these things because I have sworn an
Oath To My Country
And I will live by this Oath
Until the day I die
Because I am and always will be a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
