I consider myself lucky to have known Steve. Despite having lost contact after completing high school, about ten years ago, we realized that we worked near one another in Washington, D.C., and we caught up over lunch. We then met for one or two other social events. Those are times I will cherish. Steve will reside in our hearts and prayers, and we extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and family during this difficult time.

I played softball with Steve in Alexandria for many years in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. I also worked near his BLS office around Union Station in DC and would see him for lunch on occasion and at many parties. I loved talking to him about Buffalo as he maintained a residence there as well as the DC area.

Steve was such a great guy, a wonderful teammate possessing an infectious spirit.  He had this unique laugh that would light up the room. We had so many good times together over the years.

I will really miss him.

I had the pleasure of reacquainting with Steve, in the last couple of years, on the Grover Cleveland golf course. Sharing a cart, a story and solid golf advice with a few of our St Joe’s classmates.  A true Christian gentleman. I will miss him.

I am pretty sure Steve still has all or most of the team shirts we wore.

I met Steve in 1980 when I became employed at BLS. My recollection of first talking with him was about the sport of hockey. When I learned that he was from Buffalo, I thought to myself here is someone that might just know a thing or two about "The Good Old Hockey Game." Steve did not disappoint! Over the years we would attend several Washington Capitals games together. I will never forget the time that I drove us to a game at the Capital Centre in Landover. It started snowing while we were inside the arena. We reach the end of the game and embark on our trip home. I started to clear the snow from my windshield and Steve, lo and behold, asked it he could do it instead. I guess you could take Steve out of Buffalo, but not the Buffalo out of him. Of course, I was happy to oblige.    
I will miss future outings with him such as going to Nationals and Orioles games, as well as the text messaging we regularly engaged in. 
Most of all, I will miss the fine person and friend that Steve was!    
May the Lord's peace be with his family and friends at this difficult time. LOVE TO ALL!

Steve was a great friend for over forty years. He was an intelligent colleague with a fun sense of humor, and a good and kind person. Not only did we work at the Bureau of Labor Statistics through the decades but we played softball together on a competitive team in Alexandria for over ten years, where Steve manned first base and delivered a number of clutch hits. 
  Over the past twenty five years, Steve and I and our friends Duke and Jim had an annual low stakes/ big laughs NCAA Basketball tourney pool that fueled trash talk for the intervening months. 
  I will always treasure the memory of Steve’s rumbling laugh, his wit and intelligence, and all of the good  times we shared.
