Suddenly at age 71, of Alexandria, VA and Buffalo, NY. Son of the late Rudolph Carl Grandits and Elizabeth Ann Grandits; brother of Sean (Agnes) Grandits, Ann Marie (Christopher) Niclo, Mary Beth (Daniel) Smith, Diane (late Steven) Clark, Elise (Jonathan) Nickerson, Justine (Christopher) Hirschbeck and the late Juliann (late Warren) Rengert; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call Friday November 17, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 3070 Delaware Ave, Kenmore. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, November 18, 9:30 AM at St John the Baptist RC Church, 1085 Englewood Ave, Kenmore. Steven passed surrounded by his loving family. Steven was a graduate of St Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and earned a MBA at the University of Buffalo. He had an exemplary career as an economist working as a computer specialist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Steven grew up an avid sports fan supporting the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres sports teams. He was a lifelong golfer and enjoyed playing in both Buffalo and Alexandria. Steven volunteered for 26 years as a docent at the Freer Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution. He maintained the family home in Buffalo and hosted holiday and family events for his large extended family. These holidays were high-lighted with family heirloom decorations for all to enjoy.
