Patricia Mary Jones, 92 passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020. Born in Buffalo, NY on January 8, 1928 she graduated from the Sisters of Charity Hospital Nursing program in 1948 and was accepted as a Cadet Nurse during World War II. She earned a B.S. in Public Health Nursing from the University of Buffalo in 1959 and served as a School Nurse Teacher in Buffalo’s PS 74 and later at Kenmore West until she retired in 1993. She married John R. Jones in November 1948; they were together for 42 years and had eight children.
Pat was active in many organizations including St. Amelia’s Senior Club, the Tonawanda Historical Society, The Red Hat Society, New Beginnings and others. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening, reading, travel and attending theater productions. She enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Amelia’s for years both at the church and to home bound parishioners. Her fanatical support for the Buffalo Bills was legendary. But her biggest love was her family and watching it expand while keeping it close and tightly knit together.
She is survived by her sons Richard (Tricia), Thomas (Jackie), Kenneth (Doreen) and Ronald (Gina), and her daughters, Linda and Suzanne as well as 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband Richard, sons Robert and Michael, son-in-law’s Kenneth and Rudy and brothers James and Edward. She will be dearly missed by everyone who called her Mom, Nana, Grandma, and Great-Nana… as well as friends, neighbors and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
True to her giving nature, Patricia would like her family and friends to extend a kindness to a stranger, tell a nurse they are appreciated, go on a garden walk and enjoy her favorite roses, or just pay it forward.
