Jimmy wed Charlotte (Mills) on July 5, 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. In 1964 he joined the Dallas Police Department and retired in 1996 after 32 years in law enforcement, 30 of those years serving in the K-9 unit where he had great comradery with the elite group of working dogs. Jimmy furthered his education at Abilene Christian College while working fulltime at the Dallas Police Department and attained a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, cum laude, in 1976.
Following retirement, Jimmy and Charlotte moved to Edgewood where they built their dream house and farmed while at the same time spending invaluable time with family and meeting weekly with his retired fellow police officers and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Bonnie Sullins, and daughter, Robin Holland Schaufel.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Edgewood; Phil, Angie, and Taylor Rich of Gunter; Mary Gaugler of Bedford; Jennifer and Elizabeth Martinez of Bedford; Nick, Krisztina, Charlotte, and Oliver Gaugler of Flower Mound as well as other beloved family members and friends.
