Paul was born on March 16, 1943 in Canora, Saskatchewan to John & Annie Mosiondz. Paul attended high school in Canora, where he enjoyed many sports and was an active member of the air cadets. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan, Regina campus, where he completed his degree in education. After completing his degree, Paul taught in northern Saskatchewan in the community of La Loche, and followed that by continuing his teaching career in Regina. With a keen interest in biology, he went to Los Angeles, California to work on his Masters Degree. He then returned to Regina to further his career. In 1975, he moved to Calgary to teach, with his late wife Shirley of 42 tears, until his retirement in 2010. During his time with Shirley, Paul was an avid golfer, and enjoyed travelling, and had great opportunities to see many parts of the world. In 2010, Paul married Verna (nee Herchak). Many winters were spent escaping to Las Vegas, away from the cold winters of Alberta. In 2012, he and his loving wife Verna retired to Kelowna, where together they enjoyed the view of the lake, and watching (and critiquing) the golfers from their deck.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Verna, of 5 years, and her children Joan, Melonie, Cheryl, and David; granddaughters Chelsea and Stephanie. He is also survived by his brothers Mike Mosiondz, Metro Mosiondz, sisters Helen Lozinski, Marie Oucharek, Kathy Bugoy and Rose Simons, along with their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by Shirley’s niece and nephew, Tasha and Thomas, and their families.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Mosiondz, his late wife Shirley, and her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Dormition of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1091 Coronation Avenue, Kelowna, BC. A celebration of Paul’s life is planned for early October in Calgary Alberta – details to be announced.
