Born September 30, 1955 in Victoria, BC to Lorne and Winnifred Glassford. They moved to Prince George BC in 1965.
Marilyn was a free spirit and after high school she lived and worked in Kamloops, Williams Lake and Courtenay. After her daughters Amy and Sophy were born they became her sole focus.
She moved to Quesnel in 1990 and opened a small gift shop and that was when she met Greg, the love of her life. Their son Steven was born in 1992.
Greg and Marilyn enjoyed many years of building homes, RVing, boating, and curling. They loved every minute of the kid’s sports. Years of figure skating, hockey, baseball, soccer and school team sports. They tried to be at every game, practice, tournament and competition.
The family moved to Kelowna in 2007 and continued to renovate the homes they lived in.
With the kids on their own Marilyn decided to go to college where she obtained two diplomas. One in floral design and another in interior decorating. She started her own home renovation, interior décor and design business. She ran it successfully for seven years.
Marilyn may have been small in stature, but she was larger than life. She loved entertaining, especially during the holidays. There was always a bottle of wine waiting to be opened and a table to be danced on if you came for a visit. Her door and her heart were always open, including to people she had never met before. Occasionally complete strangers would open up to her when seeing her kind face and recognizing her big heart.
She never stopped thanking the doctors, nurses, and pharmacists who helped her on her journey during her last few months.
Marilyn was a loving wife and mother. She never stopped caring for and helping her family and those she loved.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Greg, daughter Amy and Son-in-law Dan. Daughter Sophy, and son Steven. Grandchildren Miles, Rowan, and Corbin. Predeceased by her parents Lorne and Winnifred Glassford.
A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held on Monday, July 31st, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Laurel Packinghouse, 1304 Ellis Street, Kelowna, BC
