We are sad to announce the passing of Anthony Kunka. Tony was born to parents John and Nellie Kunka on January 7, 1929 in Ethelbert, MB, in the Pine River area. It was in 1944 that the whole Kunka family moved to the Souris area. Tony then met Amy, married in 1956 and they moved to Beresford to farm and start their family. Later, Tony and Amy moved to the Elgin area where they bought another farm to continue farming and growing their family. Tony stopped farming and moved to Kelowna in 1973, with his wife and kids. After Amy’s passing in 2012, he spent his last two and a half years in Maple Ridge, BC with his daughter and family.

Tony will be lovingly remembered by his children: Brenda (Roy); Ben (Clare); Laura (Randy); and Lionel (Jamie): 9 grandchildren: Devon; Ian, Alistair; Alysha, Kelsey, Brayden; Khrista, Ashley, and Larissa; 2 great-grandchildren: Jaelyn and Izabella; sisters: Lil, Mary, (Cliff), Elsie, Jean (Don) and brothers: Mike (June), and Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.

Tony was sadly predeceased by his wife of fifty-six years Amy (née Mason), his parents John and Nellie, sister Florence Pomeroy, and brothers-in-law George Slifka, Art Moore, and Bert Malo.

Tony loved his family and friends with all his heart. He loved farming, curling, fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors. He was also a member of the Kelowna Heart and Stroke Club and spent many weekends volunteering in the community of Kelowna with his wife. Tony had a love for animals, especially his cat “Tootsie” and his grandkids dog “Oreo”. He loved his wife and all of her unconditional love and dedication to their marriage. Tony loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and did whatever he could to help them get ahead in life. He taught good morals, and was an honest and hard-working man, willing to help anyone who needed it.

Viewing and visitation will take place on Friday May 29, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road Kelowna, BC. A celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday May 30, 2015 at 9:30 AM in the chapel of Valleyview Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Lorna Hillian. Tony will be laid to rest on Saturday May 30, 2015 at 2 PM at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
