Joshua, this is so hard for me to do.  It has taken me a long time to have the courage to write this to you.  

I treasure all the memories you shared with Kevin and all those nights I would have to tell you and Kevin to go to sleep, hearing you guys laugh and talk and talk….

You took Eric under your wing and played with him Baseball in the area in front of my house and you always made him feel welcome to play with you and Kevin.   Still hearing Eric, Kevin, Davis, and you yelling and screaming as you all played Call of Duty.  😉

Your beautiful smile, your joy of life, your love of baseball, your love of music, your love for cooking!!!  

Can picture you on on my stove as you cooked for my whole family when you and Davis were both staying with us.   The fun we had at the amusement park together, the ice cream we all got, the laughs we all shared any time you came over and the joy I felt having you be with us when you came over, always such a joy to see you and talk with you!

The love you showed Stella, your tenderness when you hugged her, so beautiful.

You were so focused, driven and always admired your passion for those things you loved.

Every time I look at my mantle, I think of you when I see the new picture frame your mom bought to replace the one you broke playing and laughing with Kevin.  ❤️

I loved you like my son, you were part of my family and you always will be.    Always will treasure the gift of knowing you and having you be a part of our lives.  ❤️



Dear Joshua, you were always such a kind boy. When I visited your house you were always willing to help your mom if she needed you. You always had a smile. Always a bit timid but so friendly at the same time. You were a joy to have around, such a good boy.  It was always so good to see you. You will always be a beautiful family in our minds. I remember when we were much younger, having sleepovers almost every weekend and hanging out at Josh’s house all the time. We would stay up late watching action movies and try to reenact the scenes in the basement with nerf guns. I also remember Josh trying to sing the girls part during the song Sanctuary in church. And whenever people were clapping in church, Josh and I would have a competition to see who could have the last clap.  Every time we hung out, there was always laughter and two knuckleheads messing around. I’ll never forget the bond we had in our childhood. 

I knew Joshua because he befriended my youngest son, Michael. They both were in the same grade, so they had many opportunities to see each other, at least once a week if not more. I appreciate how kindly, fun lovingly and very specially he treated Michael whenever they get together. Michael never hesitated if I suggested a play date with Joshua. Thank you, Joshua, for building that wonderful bond with my son!

I am super thankful for both Josh and Davis for welcoming my brother and I in as soon as we moved to Nova. It was a hard transition but they made it easy being some of my first close friends in Nova. My favorite memories with Josh and I were just messing around whether when sleeping over at eachothers houses, playing games, or clapping off beat during songs at church and throwing people off (don't tell our moms). It didn't matter what we did, if it was just messing around or texting and catching up after a long time we had fun. I wish the best for the entire Burch family and send them love.

Joshua had a way of cocking his head to the side and then breaking into a smile from ear to ear when happy and excited that still makes me smile to this day!  Genuinely kind and very creative -—-that is how I remember Joshua.  My son Hudson remembers how much Joshua loved animals especially his family’s dog Stella.  My husband remembers when we first met the whole Burch family shortly after they moved to Virginia.  There was an international conference for our church that was held in Reston, VA at Reston Town Center.  Joshua and Davis sat with our boys for that service.  And our family has been blessed with a family friendship ever since.  We love you all and our hearts are with you.

We remember and will miss Joshua’s fun loving spirit- many years ago, when we babysat the boys, they fearlessly wore their cowboy hats, got out their guitars and microphones and sang for us! 
Sending much love and prayers to the whole family during this sad and difficult time. Our hearts mourn with you for your loss. 

I remember every time I would walk up to Joshua he was quiet but would always give me a good hug and we would talk about what was going on at school.   I also loved the look on his face when I would mess his hair because you know boys don't like that after they have worked so hard to get it just right!  He was precious and I love that he would chat with me.

I remember always being in awe of my nephew Josh. The way he could memorize sport statistics, keep up with politics, and put on a culinary show just to name a few. We always enjoyed playing basketball, football and fishing. He was always up to a challenge and would shock me with his quick wit. I will miss his smile and laugh the most. Our loss is certainly heavens gain. 

Joshua had such a kind heart for others, always willing to help out a friend in need and making sure no one felt left out.
I remember the class parties in elementary school, Joshua was always smiling and making others laugh.  
My daughter and I often spoke of Joshua and how we missed seeing him with his curly hair and infectious laugh after he and  his family moved from NOVA.
Although we only knew Joshua for a short time, he has and always will hold a special place in our hearts.
My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Joshua, what comes to mind are those amazing brown curls framing your sweet face, with a big warm smile. You, Davis & your folks really helped us feel welcomed when we moved into Nova in 2015. You guys totally encouraged us with hospitality & friendship. A beautiful memory we all have was Reese's birthday 2016. Yall gave him this cool guitar 🎸. Wow, how generous. But even better was you made time to celebrate with us. Our boys had a blast. Thank you Burch family for your love. You are a blessing. 

Josh will always have a special place in my heart. The way he would joke, wrestle and play would bring encouragement and build family when he was with us. He and Davis would hang out,  spend the night and take vacations with us. My son Nick, Davis and Joshua were close like brothers. I would sometimes go out and throw the football with the boys. I remember when he would do the Superman after a good play like Cam Newton, which at the time was his favorite football player. Your light in my life will forever shine.

I love this photo. Nick, Josh and Davis were so close. We visited Mike and Michelle for our family vacation a couple of years ago.  Our son, Nick, picked the location because he wanted to see Davis and Josh. I am so thankful we got to spend time with Josh because we just didn't know how short our time was with him.💗

Staying up all night with his crazy aunt Cindy singing karaoke and prank calling people. Those laughs are some of my favorite I had with him. Love him always Crazy aunt Cindy 

Michael, Michelle and Davis, 
I remember when all 4 of our boys were quite young and Michelle and I would get together often with them. Davis and Caleb would play in that big living room in your house off Trinity Springs, and Joshua and James might crawl around but usually just sat watching each other and their big brothers. And, of course Michelle, you and I would sit and watch them all and know how wise and extraordinary our 4 boys were! We were so right! I also remember going to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and while Davis and Caleb rode their training wheel bikes, we pushed Joshua and James in strollers. We would follow that up w snacks on the playground. I cherish that time and our memories that were made. We miss you, Joshua. Love, the Garcia’s

Michael and Michelle, Frédéric and I are so grateful for the time we had with your family in Virginia. We are one in heart with you both and with Davis right now. We love you and mourn with you all. How we wish we could be there with you as you celebrate Joshua’s life. We are praying to our God of all comfort that you feel His loving arms holding you very close. 

I remember Josh’s determination and tenacity from a fishing trip and watching as he reeled up fish after fish until his forearms swelled like balloons. He was a very athletic young man and a joy to spend time with. I am so sorry for your loss.

My heart feels so heavy. Words cannot begin to express how sad I am for you and your family. Josh was a great kid. We enjoyed the times he was in our home, hanging out with Trey, and with the teens from church. 

There's no way we can ever figure this all out, but God only asks that we trust He already has.  Only in His presence do we find rest, comfort, peace... and even joy. May you find all this and more in time.

My fondest memories of Joshua, was in the  Four and five years old children’s ministry class at The Northern Va Church of Christ. He showed up with his curly dark hair, cowboy boots, bright eyes and adorable smile. He was so mature for his age as a little kid,  and already had the ability to outwardly  express his love to his classmate. That  was so  cute and funny. He made me laughed and I admire That about him every Sunday. I was blessed to watch and hear him sing and played his instrument like a Little Rock star. Always kind and gentle with a big smile.  We will cherish the time you made us smile. May your sweet gentle soul rest In perfect peace.

I remember so clearly how fun loving and spirited Joshua was at all the little kiddie birthday parties we all celebrated together . I have a distinct memory of him be-bopping around the piñata and joyfully scooping up candy with a happy grin and that gorgeous mop of dark brown curls . 
Later , as a teenager , I was always struck by how kind and sweet he always was to us - such a lovely young man ! 
Always happy to catch us up with his life and what he had been up to lately - so smart and talented , he was also very sensitive and generous.  Eric and Jacob have great memories about their bonding over YouTube video creation with Joshua and Davis . He will be greatly missed . We offer our deepest condolences to your whole family ; we love you and are so very sorry for your loss . 

Joshua will be truly missed. His love and passion for music, sports (Go Auburn!), nature, family, & friends will never be forgotten. He was a sweet and kind soul with a beautiful smile! I’ll never forget those big brown eyes and curly hair. He was sweet and had a great sense of humor. I will so miss him and I hope he’s enjoying Heaven! May God wrap his arms around his family and give them strength, hope, & peace.

Joshua, I would always hear about your new endeavors like playing music, working out, and even boxing! I was almost never surprised when I found out some out of the box thing you were doing next. You seemed to always be very outgoing and humble with a thirst for adventure. I will miss you very much and will always remember our times in Texas together. Michelle, Michael, Davis I love you all so much. 

I celebrate you, Josh. Being an educator and friend in your life was a double blessing. You infiltrated my heart with your soulful brown eyes and sensitive, gentle spirit. You eagerly participated in class and quietly observed your surroundings. Your awareness of others spread kindness like it was confetti. Your clever wit and infectious giggle always made me laugh! Witnessing you evolve from your 7-year old self was a rare privilege. Watching you play with Davis and Stella was joyful, best buddies always caring and sharing. Spending afternoons with the Burch Quad was like being wrapped in a quilt of affectionate family cohesion, lovingly stitched by Michelle and securely reinforced by Michael. 

Josh, I am steeped in gratitude for your existence and impact in my life. I think I will miss your warm, loving hugs most of all. I love you! I love your family!

Some of my favorite memories with Josh are the countless sleepovers we had as kids. We would stay up playing video games, talking, and goofing around until we couldn't open our eyes anymore. Josh was such an inspiration to me. He was so dedicated and driven at everything he did, and he always did it with a smile. I wouldn't be who I am today without Josh in my life. 

Joshua is a young man that will be dearly missed we had lots of special moments the time the John Deere was broken only to find out he wasn’t heavy enough for the seat Davis and I helped so he could drive that tractor! When he sang or played an instrument he was awesome, we had long talks about him playing baseball or college and he was going to find a cure to help those in need. His laughter was contagious. His manors were top notch and loved his family. I love you  Aunt Connie

What stands out to me about Joshua was his smiling eyes and impish grin.  He was kind. He loved animals and spending time with his beloved Stella.  I remember he and Wes playing in the sand box. Joshua was always patient with Wes and easy to be around. We lost touch with him when the family moved to Texas. I will carry the memory of his smiling, gentle face with me.  God Bless. 

So Sorry for your loss. May all the wonderful memories you shared with Joshua flood your into you hearts. 

Josh, my first memory of you was when I met you in Baltimore with Papa Larry.  You were 10 and when you found out Larry and I were taking a trip to Paris you told him "When you go to Paris you HAVE to buy Denise a pair of shoes, everybody knows that Paris is the fashion capital."  I cracked up that a boy your age would be such a fashionista :)  I loved you from the start and Larry actually bought me a few pairs of shoes, thank you Josh! I loved listening  and watching you share your culinary expertise and preparing some scrumptious meals for us.  You had that dynamic, upbeat, outspoken personality that clicked for me.  I enjoyed shooting hoops with you in Virginia, and most of all, DANCING with you!!  You had fabulous rhythm and were one of the few young boys who could give me some stiff competition on the dance floor.  I mean, what other 12 year old boy would attempt to do the Lambada with me??   You stared at a picture of my Dad at Larry's and looked at me and said   "You look exactly like him."  Such perception for a young boy!  Nobody else ever recognized the similarity in the photo  like you did.   Your sensitive soul and joie de vivre will always hold a special place in my heart.

It’s with our hearts we remember Joshua’s gentle nature & smile as he would eagerly share what was going on in his life or current passion.

I remember our children playing with Joshua and how confident he was.  He loved talking about his latest passion!  I also remember  when he called the raw chicken "Bob" and would say "Hi Bob" to it as you were cooking dinner!

We will always remember Joshua’s strong exterior with his tender heart inside.  And that beautiful shy smile!  You will be missed, Joshua.  Our prayers go out to the Burch’s.  You are all loved deeply.

One of Billy's favorite memories of little Joshua was him wanting to wrestle with his dad and brother, 4 or 5 years old, walking around saying "You want a piece of me?!" ❤

I can see Joshua in my mind as if it was yesterday he was a third grader in my class.  He was so cute with a head full of black curls and big eyes taking everything in. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for the family. Please know you all are in my prayers.
