Eugene F. McLaughlin, 80, of Duncanville, TX, passed away peacefully the morning of November 24, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Gene was born on August 16th, 1942 in Washington D.C. After Gene graduated from MT. Clemens High School in 1961, he went on to join the United States Marine Corp, where he went on to develop the skill of carpentry. After retiring from the Marine Corp, he continued to refine his craft as a builder. Gene went on to start his own business doing what he loved. He took much pride in everything he did, working hard on every project he touched. In 2003, he became the official Director of New Construction at Dallas Baptist University, where he went on to build the majority of the Campus, creating something beautiful that would touch the lives of many.
Gene went on to marry the love of his life Sherry on December 25th, 2001. They lived a life full of love and laughter, constantly surrounded by family and friends. Gene always used to say work hard, play hard. He loved to travel and create lifelong memories. Gene was always the life of the party; he had a smile and laugh that would fill the room. He brought joy to everyone he knew. Gene was a very kind, compassionate, selfless man, always doing and giving to others. He never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. He will be missed by many.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Elizabeth McLaughlin, and his father Eugene F. McLaughlin Sr. He is survived by his wife Sherry McLaughlin, his sister Pat Heitmann, his daughters Natalie Peak, Heather McLaughlin, Michele Hancock, his step daughters Melissa Liebel, Shelli Crosnoe, Durinda Gumm, his stepson Tony Gumm, his 18 grandchildren, and his 22 great grandchildren.
