Betty Jean Tocheny, peacefully passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 92.
Born on July 12, 1932, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Betty was the daughter of Harry Krohn and Dorothy Rayburn. She inherited a deep love for church hymns from her grandfather, a minister, and shared a close bond with her father, who served as a church deacon. Betty proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, a period during which she met and married Andrew M. Tocheny in 1951. Together, they raised four children: Andrea, Denise, Jeanmarie, and David.
After her military service, Betty enjoyed a successful career in real estate and corporate property management spanning over forty years. Her dedication to her work was evident as she chose to continue working until she was eighty years old. Beyond her professional achievements, Betty cherished family time and pursued hobbies such as reading, crafts, music, shopping, singing, and trivia.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew M. Tocheny. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Andrea and Joseph Toher, Denise and Curtis Lynch, Jeanmarie and Richard Beshears, David and Mary Tocheny. Betty's legacy also includes eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, whom she adored dearly.
A service honoring Betty's life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at DFW National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., where she will receive Army military honors. Following the interment, a memorial service and reception will be held at Keller’s Old Town Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m.
Betty will be remembered for her service to our country, her dedication to family, and her zest for life's simple pleasures. Her kindness and love touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a lasting imprint on her community and beyond.
