She was born on June 22, 1939 in Concord, NH, the daughter of George and Irene (Norquist) Thompson. She attended area schools and graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1957.
On September 24, 1960 Sally married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Edward Trombly at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Concord. Shortly thereafter, the two moved to Keene where they became members of St. James’s Church and began their family.
Prior to raising their three children, Sally had studied at Mary Hitchcock Hospital where she earned her Nursing Degree. After her children had grown, she furthered her education at Keene State College and received her Bachelors. Sally had a thirst for knowledge and continued her studies at UMass Amherst, receiving a Masters in Public Health. Sally completed her studies at Suffolk University in 1990 with a Degree in Law.
Sally had been employed as the Director of Regulatory Services at the Risk Management Foundation for Harvard Medical Institutions and at the Massachusetts State Board of Registration in Medicine. Before her retirement in 2011, she had held the position of Director of Risk Management at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was involved with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, publishing articles and reviewing grant requests.
Sally was an analytical thinker and had always shown determination and focus in whatever she was pursuing. Although Sally was career oriented, nothing compared to her love and dedication she had for her family.
Sally will be dearly missed by her children: Sharon Swede of Easley, SC, Mike Trombly and his wife Bonnie of Swanzey, and Kristen Trombly and her partner Chris Patria and his children Chase and Emma Patria of Swanzey; grandchildren: Alex Trombly and his wife Hannah of Keene, Kelsey Tommila and her husband Matt of Keene, and Abbie Trombly of Swanzey; siblings: Susan Schaffner and her husband Ken of Emmaus, PA, and David Thompson and his wife Mary of Rindge; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
She is predeceased by her husband of nearly 52 years: Edward Trombly; son-in-law: Philip Swede; and parents.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
