Born on August 21, 1930, in Walpole, NH, Robert dedicated his life to family and community. Robert, known fondly as Bob, spent his entire life in Westmoreland. He graduated from Walpole High School, and then from the University of New Hampshire and soon began his work on the family dairy farm. After selling the farm, Bob worked as a respected livestock dealer.
He dedicated himself to public service, serving Westmoreland in numerous capacities. For over three decades, he served as a Selectman, a school board member, overseer of public welfare, a County Commissioner, and also as a New Hampshire State Legislator. Bob was an active member of Farm Bureau and served as Vice President of the NH Farm Bureau.
When at home, Bob took great pride in his summer garden. He often raised oxen and showed many at local fairs.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elaine (Blanchard) Moore; six children, Ann Green, Linda Moore, Roberta “Birdie” Rokes, Robert “Bob” Moore, III, James Moore, Michael Moore; and two stepchildren Kevin Wheeler and Kelly Darling-Snow. He was very close with his sister Mary (Moore) Matthews, four grandchildren, Jennifer, Troy, Sarah and Trisha; 5 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jarrod, Marcus, Wyatt and Jayden and two great-great grandchildren Jackson and Haizlynn. His parents, Elizabeth (McRae) and Robert W. Moore, Sr., and a son, Kenneth Moore, predeceased him.
Bob maintained wonderful friendships, both old and new, and could often be found at the Village Store in Westmoreland, visiting with friends over coffee.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene, NH. Burial will follow in the Village Cemetery, Glebe Road, Westmoreland. There are no public calling hours.
