He was born in Keene on April 10, 1933, the son of Otto and May (Mackey) Hendrickson. He attended St. Joseph School in Keene and upon completing high school he served for four years in the United States Air Force.
Robert had work at the Troy Mills, Markem, AE Martel, and the Armory. He retired while working for the State of New Hampshire as a Maintenance Technician.
Robert was a life-long communicant of St. Bernard Church in Keene, a member of St. Ann’s Church in Nova Scotia, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Keene.
On November 5, 1994 Robert married Jacqueline Olmstead after several years of courtship. They cherished their time spent at their cottages in Harrisville, NH and in Nova Scotia. Together they celebrated many happy years until her death in 2006.
Fondly remembered as a “gentle giant”, Robert’s number one passion was fishing and making his own lures. He enjoyed boating and being at peace in nature. He also enjoyed music – listening, dancing to country music, and playing the piano. He could be found unwinding either taking a walk or cozied with a bowl of ice cream watching one of his favorite tv shows – country westerns, The Twilight Zone, or Dancing with the Stars.
Robert will be dearly missed by his children: Debbie LaCount of Manchester, NH, Donna Hendrickson of Manchester, NH, Lorna Seguin and her husband Bruce of Swanzey, NH, Kimberly Saykaly and her significant other Serge Brochu of Manchester, NH, and Daniel Hendrickson of Keene, NH; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his wife: Jackie Hendrickson; daughter: Kathleen Hendrickson; and sisters: Mona Hendrickson and Shirley Hendrickson.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A funeral service will begin at the Funeral Home at 10:00 am with committal prayers following immediately at St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers, Robert had requested that memorial donations be made in his name to St. Bernard Church Restoration Fund, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431 or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446 (www.MonadnockHumaneSociety.org).
