Richard H. Goodnow, resident of Westmoreland, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, NH at the age of 75 years. Born on October 28, 1942 to Walter L. and Pauline (Holbrook) Goodnow, Rick was lovingly raised by his mother and step-dad Thomas “Tom” Thompson.
Rick was a lifelong resident of Westmoreland and a hard worker who owned and operated his own construction business. Rick was a skilled craftsman and a self-taught guitar player who loved Bluegrass and the company of family and friends. Rick enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, which he continued doing at Maplewood where he grew vegetables, maintained flower beds, and started plants from seed at the request of other residents. He was also known for playing a mean game of cribbage.
Rick will be greatly missed by many, especially his children, Kimberlei Goodnow Taylor of Winter Park, FL, Reginald Goodnow (Shannon, wife) of Westmoreland, Scott Goodnow (Suzanne, wife) of Westmoreland, Dana Goodnow (Mariah Smith, fiancée) of Keene, Adam Goodnow (Katherine, wife) of Keene; step-daughters Pamela Neal (Alan, husband) of Chesterfield and Paula Leslie (Scott, husband) of Westmoreland; many grandchildren; two surviving brothers: Roger Goodnow (Beth, wife) of Old Saybrook, CT and David Goodnow of Maryland; a sister, Sherilyn Field (Daniel, husband) of Fitzwilliam, NH; and, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, and step-dad; also, by a daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Burdych; and, a brother, Walter L. “Skip” Goodnow, Jr. He will be fondly remembered by his former wives, Jane Goodnow of Westmoreland and Susan Goodnow DeLuca of Keene.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlborough Street, Keene. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the East Westmoreland Cemetery, Route 12, E. Westmoreland with a brief celebration to follow at the Westmoreland Fellowship Hall.
