She was a caring and loving person and was very will liked by all who knew her at the center, especially the caring nurses and staff of the Solana Care Unit who helped her go through the battle of Alzheimer's disease.
Martha was born in Keene on November 18, 1925, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Hoyt) Johnson. She graduated from Keene High School, class of 1943. She was first employed at WKNE radio station as a secretary. She later went on to be an executive secretary at the Markem Corporation, where she was a devoted employee for 33 years prior to retiring in 1990.
On August 18, 1951 she married Stacy Wyman of Keene and they were married for 46 years prior to his passing in 1997. Her family was always her top priority.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Stacy J. Wyman, two sisters: Jeannette Johnson and Hilda Trumbo formerly of California, and her twin brother Fred "Buddy" Johnson.
Survivors include: two daughters: Connie Baldwin and her husband Bruce of Keene and Jane Francis and her husband David of Mystic, CT.. Martha adored her three grandchildren: Stacie Baldwin of Westfield, MA., Matthew and Diana Francis of Mystic, CT.. The was extremely proud of them and enjoyed keeping track of their many activities throughout the years. a brother in law Jewell Trumbo of Montague, California, and a sister in law Mary Breen Wyman of Portsmouth, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Martha was a very kind and thoughtful person and was always thinking of something special to do for others. She made the holidays special, ordering "See's" Candy for everyone and even placing orders for her many friends at work. After her retirement she volunteered at the office of the United Church of Christ in Keene where she was an active member for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Fellowship at the church.
She loved spending summers at her family farmhouse in Craftsbury Common VT. She and her husband Stacy enjoyed many summers there, inviting their many friends and family members to join them at their special home in the Northeast Kingdom. She even went swimming at the lake there at the age of 80. She also loved York Beach Maine and Nubble Light House. Vermont and Maine were always favorite places of her's. She loved the ocean and admired everything in nature, sunsets, birds and flowers. Martha also loved music and even with dementia she could remember all the words to songs from years past and would sing along to her favorite songs. She loved going for rides in the car.
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Wyman will be held Saturday afternoon at two thirty at the United Church of Christ, Central Square, Keene. Friends are invited. There are no public calling hours.
