Marjorie S. Doris

She was born in Newport, R.I., on Sept. 9, 1934, the first-born daughter of Angelo and Marion Simonetta. Marjorie’s younger years were spent in Rhode Island, where she was later joined by twin sisters Jean and Joan, and brother Ken. The family moved to Peterborough when she was 12 and that became her hometown. She graduated from Peterborough High School in 1952 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.

Margy met her future husband, Robert Doris, at Camp Union in Greenfield, where she was the camp nurse. They were married on Dec. 22, 1956, and they cherished their 56 years together until Bob’s death in 2013.

In addition to nursing, Margy worked in real estate and several other endeavors over the years as she raised her four children. She was a hard worker with exceptional organizational abilities that enabled her to keep all the plates spinning while never losing sight of what was most important, her devotion to her family.

Margy enjoyed traveling, reading and playing games. She loved nothing better than spending time with her children and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was genuinely interested in their lives and will be greatly missed by all. She was truly a kind person.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Nicole Rader and her husband, Richard, of Stoddard; Cindy Prescott of North Carolina; Tamara Webber and her husband, Glenn, of Stoddard; and Ursula Johannesson and her husband, Mark, of Peterborough. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jeremy Cuddihy (Bridget) of South Carolina; Jared Johannesson (Casey) of Virginia; Hannah Webber Coombs (Max) of Sullivan; Sean Doris (Sarah) of San Francisco; Eliza Webber (Kevin) of Montana; Zachary Johannesson (Bridget) of New York; and Abigail Johannesson of Peterborough; and her great-grandchildren, Grace, Ryleigh, Wyatt, Nathan, Xavier, Madeline, Aidan, Elijah and Hudson.

A private graveside service will be held at the family plot at Monadnock View Cemetery in Keene.
