Marie was born June 30, 1911, in Rankin, PA to Maria (Kielsh) and Alois Odstrcil. She grew up in North Braddock, PA and attended area schools.
In June 16, 1937, she married Edward Robert Schillemat. After the Steel Mills closed in PA, they moved to Hyde Park, MA and raised their three children. They celebrated nearly 28 years of marriage before his death in 1965.
She was employed by Westinghouse in Turtle Creek, PA for 5 years and then Allis Chalmers/Siemens in Canton, MA for 30 years as a secretary.
Marie was always on the go and stayed very busy. She was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star, President of the Canton Women’s Club, and Secretary to the President of the State (MA) Women’s Club. She loved to dance – English country, square, line and western being her favorite. Marie was a great traveler and visited numerous places including Hawaii, Alaska and many European and Scandinavian countries. During her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling. She handcrafted beautiful Japanese Bunka embroidery and crocheted many afghans. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two sons: Walter A. Schillemat of Munsonville, NH, and Edward R. Schillemat and his wife Rita of Munsonville, NH; six grandchildren: Duane E. Schillemat and his wife Katharine of Munsonville, NH, Daryl S. Schillemat and his wife Cheryl of Munsonville, NH, Cheryl A. Phenix and her husband Glen of Apex, NC, Daniel W. Schillemat and his wife Margaret of Munsonville, NH, Kristen M. Schillemat of Munsonville, NH, David A. Schillemat and his wife Bernadette of Marlborough, NH; 29 great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Poul, Andrea, Johanna, Gretchen, Peder, Geoffrey, Brandon, Ryan, Amber, Caitlyn, Nicole, Megan, Sacha, Brinson, Christian, Myles, Colbey, Mara, Carmel, Nash, Lars, Sean, Jacob, Joshua, Nathan, Jessica, Johnathan and Amelia. 17 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She is predeceased by her husband Edward R. Schillemat, Sr.; daughter, Carrol Marie Emma Cox Jenner; sister, Louise Keller, and brother, Clarence Bash.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. Reverend Dawn Larsen of the Nelson Congregation Church will be presenting a few words in Marie’s behalf at 7:30 pm during the calling hours. To honor Marie’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A private burial will take place in the family lot at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA.
