She was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY the daughter of James and Eileen (Assillen) Clark. She grew up in that area and was a graduate of Lindenhurst High School.
On September 10, 1964, she married James F. Meehan in Lindenhurst, NY.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Meehan was co-owner of the Suffolk House Restaurant in Dublin from 1972-1986. She also worked for Peerless Insurance Company for a number of years before working for the State of NH’s Department of Health and Human Services more recently.
Mrs. Meehan enjoyed going to auctions and was an avid reader. She particularly enjoyed reading mysteries. Family vacations with family and friends in southern Maine were a special joy to her. Her biggest joy was going to the Colonial Theater several times a year.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James F. Meehan of Keene; her two sons Michael Meehan, and his wife Meaghan, of Lebanon, ME, Matthew Meehan of Keene; one grandchild Cassidy Meehan; her brothers; James Clark of Spring Hills, FL, Donald Clark of Porter CO, and Thomas Clark of Boiling Springs SC; and many nieces and nephews. A daughter Eileen Margaret Meehan died earlier.
A memorial service for Mrs. Meehan will be held on May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Cheshire Health Foundation, for the Farnum Rehabilitation Center, Cheshire Medical Center, 580 Court St., Keene, NH 03431.
