Her parents, Leon and Natalie (Horton) Martin, welcomed their daughter into the world on August 3, 1935, in Keene, NH. Joyce grew up in Swanzey and was a graduate of Keene High School.
In her early years, Joyce worked at the former Princess Shoe Company in Keene. Her greatest joy however, was in raising her family and fulfilling her role as a homemaker.
Joyce was a member of the West Swanzey, NH Drum and Bugle Corp. She cherished her shopping trips with her daughter, Brenda. When not caring for her family, Joyce enjoyed puttering. and tending to her floral and vegetable gardens. She loved country music and could always be found accompanying her husband, Bernard to many places, enjoying the wonderful music his band offered. In her later years, she enjoyed coffee and great conversation with her special friends. Her grandsons brought her great joy in life, and her life was even more blessed with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Emelia.
Joyce will be greatly missed by many, especially by her daughter and best friend, Brenda Goedicke and her husband, Kornel of Swanzey; her grandsons, Matt Goedicke and his partner, Sue Zinn of Richmond, NH, Brett Goedicke of Swanzey; the twinkle in her eye, her great-granddaughter, Emelia Goedicke of Conway, SC; her sisters, Patty Jakola and her husband, Ron, and Leanne Ball Martin, all of Prescott Valley, AZ; a niece, Michelle Snelling of Newport Richie, FL, who Joyce thought of as a daughter; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Richard Baker of East Swanzey, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Her parents, Leon Martin and Natalie Brown; her husband of 57 years, Bernard Miller, two brothers, Wayne Martin and Larry Martin; and a sister, Barbara Chamberlain, predeceased her.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January, January 28, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey, at a date and time to be announced.
The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation for the wonderful care provided to Joyce during her stay at the Maplewood.
