He was born May 2, 1931 in Woodbury, Connecticut, the son of Lillie D (Knapp) and Ronald W. Mason, Sr. David proudly served our Nation as a member of the United States Army.
He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, class of 1954 and obtained his Masters Degree in Agricultural Education at the University of New Hampshire in 1970.
For many years David worked for the University of Rhode Island Cooperative Extension Service in the Greenville, Rhode Island Office. He was a 4-H Agent and the last 12 years he was the Agricultural Agent. When he retired in 1992, he and Loretta moved to Keene, He was active in the State, New England and National 4-H Agents and Agricultural Agents Associations while working and also as a retiree.
For the past several years David had been a member of the National Federation of the Blind of New Hampshire, Monadnock Chapter and the local group of Sight Services for Independent Living. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 4 in Keene and AARP.
David was a very outgoing person with a warm personality and a contagious smile. He was always eager to meet new people and to share stories about his family and his various accomplishments. He enjoyed traveling to Wells Beach, Maine in the summer and was always ready to visit new places. Photography was something that David took great pride in: whether taking pictures of family gatherings, places where he and Loretta traveled, or simply something unique which caught his eye. David also enjoyed being outdoors working in his vegetable garden, boating, skiing or simply going for a ride.
His survived by his wife: Loretta M. (Meyer) Mason of Keene, whom he married in the United Church of Christ in Keene on June 21, 1969, and his sister: Lenoir Roberge and her husband, Philip of East Haddam, CT.
He is predeceased by his son Gordon H Mason, who died as an infant and his brother Ronald W. Mason, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00am at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
