He was born in Lowell, MA, December 31, 1932, the son of Charles Patrick and Bernadette (O’Regan) Donahue. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and was a 1951 graduate of Keith Academy. He went on to attend Boston University.
Mr. Donahue was an Army veteran serving from February, 1954 until February, 1956, during the Korean Conflict.
Following his military obligations, he worked for 36 years with Raytheon of Lowell, MA.
While residing in Lowell, he loved socializing at the Mt. Pleasant Golf Course where he golfed in a twi-light league. He and his wife enjoyed attending the weekly dances at Mt. Pleasant. He also enjoyed performing in many shows. He was a youth baseball coach, and was one of the founding umpires for the league. He was a communicant of St. Rita’s Church and a Eucharistic Minister.
Throughout his life, Mr. Donahue was interested in political issues, and served as campaign manager for several political campaigns.
After retirement, he and his wife, Ann, moved to Florida where he served as president on condominium association boards.
A resident of Keene for the past eight years, Mr. Donahue was a parishioner of The Parish of the Holy Spirit in Keene.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Anastasia “Ann” (Gazes) Donahue of Keene; his children, Charles A. Donahue and his wife, Susan, of Keene, Karen King and her husband, Scott, of Southborough, MA, Joseph P. Donahue of Hudson, NH, Brian T. Donahue and his wife, Cheri, of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Attorney Pat Donahue and his wife, Attorney Laura Donahue, of Spokane, WA, Lauren Donahue of Norfolk, VA, Luke Donahue and Colleen Donahue, both of Keene, Ryan King, Colton King and Courtney King, all of Southborough, Meghan Donahue and Jake Donahue, both of Hudson, Miranda Donahue of Ormond Beach, Nathan Balakin and Nicholi Balakin, both of Tyngsboro, MA; a great-grandson, Jobe Streeter; two sisters, Bernadette Campbell of Dracut, MA, Ann Carol Roper and her husband, Ron, of Bradenton, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Soucy and Cecilia Paul, and two brothers-in-law, John Campbell and Jack Paul.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene. Rev. Steven M. LePine will be the celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in the Friedsam Cemetery, Route 63, Chesterfield, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Donahue’s memory to the Parish of the Holy Spirit, 181 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431.
