She was born February 4, 1944 in Portsmouth, NH the daughter of Edward and Ciona (Trombly) Martell. Ardis worked for various businesses in the Monadnock Region including the Pub Restaurant in Keene and co-owner of Paquette Appraisals.
Ardis was a very outgoing person and enjoyed getting to know her neighbors and building friendships with those around her. For those that knew her she would never beat around the bush and would always tell you like it is. She loved to be outside and soak up sun by the pool; she loved to travel to the beach and would always spend plenty of time sunbathing and soaking in the pool. She was known by friends as the “Sunshine Lady”. When she wasn’t lounging by the pool she also enjoyed being outside working in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Ardis was very artistic and enjoyed working on crafting projects. She made beautiful wreaths and other macramé items which she would share with friends and family. Photography was also something that brought her joy. She had an grand appreciation for sports and especially enjoyed cheering for the Patriots and “Tom”.
She and her second husband Robert Irwin enjoyed traveling together, especially to the Pacific Northwest.
She is survived by her sons: Edward Trombly and his wife Sheryl of Keene, Mark Trombly of Keene and David Trombly of Keene, stepsons: David Irwin and his wife Asa of Bellevue, WA, Glenn Irwin and his wife Linda of Portland, OR and Craig Irwin and his wife Diane of Beaverton, OR, stepdaughter: Susan Davis and her husband Mark of Lynnwood, WA, grandchildren: Zachary, Rachel, Christine, Megan, Miles, Katie, Jonathan, Maggie, Emily, Chad and Shane, great-grandson: Joshua, sisters: Ciona Whitcomb and her husband Robert of Keene, Valieda Henderson and her husband Gary of Garland, TX and Cheryl Sawyer of Dallas, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is also survived by her first husband and the father of her children: Arthur L. Trombly of Keene. She is predeceased by her second husband: Robert Irwin.
Ardis’ family will remember her in services this Spring. These services will be announced a later time.
