Albert was born the son of Philias Fontaine and Ophilia Turgeon Fontaine on September 10, 1931 in Berlin, NH.
He attended St. Joseph School and Keene High School, graduating KHS in June 1949. He worked for New England Telephone for many years. He is a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He served his country in the US Air Force from February 8, 1951 to December 31, 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Always interested in sports, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, skiing and especially golf at Hooper’s in Walpole. Al Fontaine is survived by two sons, Michael and Mark Fontaine, two granddaughters, Katie Timoney and husband Padraig, and Emily Fontaine, three great grandchildren, Noelle, Gavin and Cian. He is survived by two sisters, Theresa Murdough and Cecile Chickering, sisters-in-law Jean Fontaine and Frances Fontaine, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Joan Tillson. He is also survived by four stepchildren John, Daniel, Jamie and Mary Rios. He is predeceased by his parents, one sister, Grace Rioux, and two brothers, Lionel Fontaine and Edward Fontaine.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
