Knowing the family since HS I always enjoyed telling Gus about my family and listening to his funny stories and jokes. Since Gus and my dad were both in the army in WWII we would relate stories about my dad and his time in the army.  I know he is happy in heaven Adela now. Gus was is a very special person. My daughter Amy Smith met him at Gilead Baptist ChurchThey were friends and Gus  Volunteer at Amy school for about three years once a week, helping the kids to learn to read. Amy loved Gus just  like her students did  . Amy died on October 19, 2020, from depression. Our thoughts and prayers are withall of Gus’s family 🙏🏻❤️

Gus was such an important person in my life. First as a friend, then as a wonderful father-in-law and then a much beloved grandfather (Lito) to my children and grandchildren. There are so many great memories of him. Always there to encourage and support. Also, he always made me laugh. I remember one year when the kids were little he dressed up as Santa Claus and wore the beard up on his nose and couldn’t understand why he had to lift it to talk and eat.   I also remember our trip to Europe and all the great adventures and fun times we had. I will truly miss this great man. I see him in my daughter, Sarah, and know I will continue to see that special twinkle in his eyes through her. 

Worked with Gus for many years at Great Lakes! He was a true gentleman in every since of the word.

Gus was always a shining star in our eyes.  When ever I heard he was coming to a function that we would be attending it made me smile. Gus always had a joke that would make you laugh out loud. I was always in awe of his sharpness at his age!!!! 
Gus you will truly be missed and never be replaced.

Gus always had something funny to say. He was a great guy and fun to be around. You always knew you would have a good time when you were around him.

Uncle Gus I will miss your jokes. My fondest memories are when I hung out with you when I was maybe 10, how you would interact with everyone, you made them smile and feel good about themselves. 

My Tio Gustavo was very much a positive influence in my childhood, as a teen and an Adult.  I have so many great memories of my Tio.   I’ll never forget the day he made me a delicious Delmonico steak,  or taking us bowling and also several Tiger games!!! I learned about caring for others and also accepting Jesus Christ as my personal savior.  Thank you Tio for all your love. 

Uncle Gus will always be remembered as the person who always had a smile and who then made you smile. As one of his nephews he will immensely be missed. Through his kids he’s memory will always be there.
