On December 21, 2018, Robert Earl Mihok died peacefully at the age of 85. Robert was preceded in death by his father John Mihok and mother Beatrice Ryan Mihok, his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Millar Mihok and his brothers, John and Harold Mihok along with many other family and friends.
Bob’s life was not an easy life. He was put in an orphanage with his brothers at the age of 4 and enlisted in the military at the age of 17 in order to get out of that situation. Bob served his country with pride as an Army Airborne Division 11 paratrooper in the Korean War from 1950-1953. His destiny brought him to the train station in Brewster, NY where he eventually met the love of his life, Sandra and raised two daughters, Cathy McKenna and Marilyn Lester and were blessed with 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Bob was a very successful sales representative for Culligan Water Conditioning for many years before retiring.
After retiring at young ages, Bob and Sandy lived a wonderful life in Ft. Myers, Florida where they had many friends. They enjoyed golfing, playing cards and were active members of the United Methodist Church in Ft. Myers. But the joy of their lives were their children and their families.
After Sandra’s death in 2013, Bob moved to Houston to live with his daughter Marilyn and her husband, John. He traveled, enjoyed going to sporting events and spending time with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also a member of the America Legion South Houston Post 490 where he loved to go and talk to his fellow veterans about the hardship of war.
He shared his final moments with his family by his side. He was loved by all who knew him and loved them more. He was kind, generous, strong, caring and one of the most loving men his family knew. He will always be our hero.
Services for Robert will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Assembly of God, 700 2nd Street, League City, TX followed by a full military funeral at the Houston National Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join them in for a celebration of his life following the ceremonies at the American Legion South Houston Post 490, 11702 Old Galveston Road, Houston, TX 77034.
