Patsy Lamar Baker was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to the many people who were blessed to have had her in their lives. She had a spirit of adventure, a strong sense of humor, and a love of people and life that touched everyone she met. She could light up a room with her smile and her laughter. She was known by many for her beauty and kindness.
Patsy worked in the beauty industry and owned her own shop for many years. This was during a time when many women did not run their own businesses, but Patsy's shop was very successful. When her beloved daughter, Tricia Malone Schielack was born in 1952, Patsy retired in order to became a full-time mother. Patsy came out of retirement in 1981 to manage Captain Benny's Seafood Restaurant. At that time, she met the person who would eventually become her husband, companion, and the greatest love in her life, Earl Baker.
Upon her marriage to Earl, Patsy devoted her time to loving and enjoying her large family and many friends. We will miss her sharp wit, good advice, laughter, and supportive presence.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Earl Baker; her grandson, Justin Woodruff Schielack; her son-in-law, Mark Schielack; her grandson Stephen Adams and his wife Kathy and her great-grandson Noah Adams; stepchildren Ricky and Mary Anne Baker; and Buddy and Karen Baker; grandchildren and their spouses Brian and Oona Baker, Eileen Wells, Adam and Chelsea Baker, Allen and Brandi Baker, Lauren and Matt Whorrall, Holly and Kevin Keith, Amy and Kenton Andrews; great-grandchildren Ramona Baker, Judah Wells, Cory and Madison Baker, Harper and Saylor Keith, and William and Collette Rose Keith; her former husband, Whitey Malone; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Teresa and Mark Perkins, Zwaine and Angela Lamar, Shane and Kathryn Lamar, Gary and Elba Lamar, Trey and Laura Lamar, Monica Thorn, and "honorary nephew" John Gans, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Her family was her joy.
Patsy is pre-deceased by her beloved daughter, Patricia Malone Schielack; her brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Dallas Lamar; her sister Nancy Lamar, and sister and brother-in-law Shera and John Dodd; her niece Cheryl Lamar, and her parents Leroy Gibson Lamar and Lona Belle Halbert Lamar.
