Margaret, the middle child of Andrew and Winifred Muldowney, was born in Manhattan on January 27, 1940 and lived most of her life in The Bronx. While living in The Bronx she met her husband, James. They grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same parish school. They were married in 1963. For 35 years she worked at H&R Block preparing taxes. She was known as Margie to our family and friends and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Family time was very important to her. She enjoyed spending summers at Rockaway Beach with the important people in her life. Along with her sisters, she would help organize our family’s yearly Christmas Day gift exchange and dinner. She also organized the annual summer family bar-b-que. Margie had a love of sports and played basketball when she was in HS. She was also very proud of her perfect game bowling trophy. Baseball, tennis and golf were sports she enjoyed watching throughout her life. For several years Margie helped run the sewing club for teenagers at St. Benedict’s. She was part of the Mother’s Guild at the Villa and crocheted stuffed animals for the school’s annual Spring Fair. Whenever family came to stay with us, she was the go-to for travel information. One of her nieces said at one point, “Before we had the internet, we had Aunt Margie.”. She was an avid reader and had a love of puzzles; it didn’t matter if it was crosswords or jigsaw, she loved them all. Sewing, crocheting and baking gingerbread houses at the holidays were also hobbies. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, James O’Connor of Katy, TX; two siblings: Andrew Muldowney of East Brunswick, NJ and Winifred Gaffney of Katy, TX; three daughters: Jean Dorsi and husband Eugene of Katy, TX, Teresa Bissett and husband Thomas of Mars, PA and Noreen Ford and husband Geoffrey of Auburn, NY; five grandchildren: Catherine, Helen and James Dorsi, and Erin and Ainsley Bissett; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margie was predeceased by her sisters Anne Galligan and Mary Ellicott.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
