Judy was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Gerald E. Gruenewald and Viola M. Bohringer who, in addition to Judy had two sons, Robert and Donald. Their mother passed away when Judy was only fourteen and she welcomed a large share of responsibility to assist her father with their upbringing.
Judy attended Fox High School in Arnold, Missouri graduating in 1961. Judy met Frank Burch while at Southeast Missouri State University. Upon graduation, Frank attended United States Marine Officer training in Quantico, Virginia. Judy joined Frank there and was married on April 6, 1963.
Traveling and living in numerous places during the next several years, Judy became the very loving mother to Debra L. Rivers and Brenda Kaye Austin. Living in Virginia, North Carolina, California, Missouri, Iowa, and Texas gave Judy much experience in patience and love. Finally, settling in Texas, Judy tried her hand at owning an insurance agency in Katy, Texas. Her pleasant mannerisms and business skills allowed her to become successful, finally retired in 1995.
She was ready! Judy then was able to read, sew, play piano, play bridge...and most of all spend more time with family...and get Frank to plan many, many travel adventures. Judy loved traveling, and, she loved spending time with family at the lake home she built, and, enjoyed for many years in Livingston, Texas.
Judy was loyal, smart, fun, kind, funny, respectful, and mostly, she loved her family...And was Loved by many.
Judy is survived by Frank and daughters, Debra and Brenda. She is also survived by brothers, Bob and Don; grandchildren, Brittany, Reagan, Rachel, Adrienne, and Ethan; and, recent newcomers to the family, great grandkids, Xaiden and Lottie.
A visitation for Judith will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, Texas 77494. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Katy Funeral Home.
