John Discher del Rosario:
He had strong will & perseverance, driven to always do better. Because of his circumstances: he wanted to show them that he could overcome.
Born March 28, 1930 and raised in the Philippines. These were hard times. Still a minor, during World War II he fought alongside the US supported Philippine guerillas against the Japanese occupation.
When he turned 18 he joined the Philippine Air Force and began his life-long love of flying.
He emigrated to the US with his mother, stepfather and brother when he was 22 years old and joined the US Air Force to travel the world.
He was an Artist to his core, teaching himself French so that he could attend the prestigious art school in France, Ecole de Beaux de Arts (Ekol de bozArts), while he was in the military.
He loved flying airplanes, he started flying lessons before he left the Philippines and went on to earn his pilot’s license, commercial license and then became an instructor. His favorite saying was: “He who hoots with the owls at night, cannot soar with the eagles during the day”.
He Spoke seven languages: Tagalog, English, Japanese, German, Chinese, French, Spanish
He was fiercely Patriotic: serving 20 years and eventually retiring from the Air Force. During this time he fought in both Viet Nam and the Korean War.
He was filled with the American Entrepreneurial spirit, always wanting to try something new, whether it was selling life insurance or owning his own brokerage.

- He wrote a screen Play,
- He was a published Editorial Cartoonist.
- He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize
- He was an avid supporter and competitor in Toastmaster winning First place in the International Speech Competition for District 26.
He had a strong sense of civic duty. He always volunteered in some capacity, Whether it was PTA, the Condo Association or the Volunteer fire department.
He had strong feelings about family: He loved his family. He always adamant about us furthering our education. He felt that education was the key to a successful life. He never wanted us to struggle in our lives the way that he had.
John Discher Del Rosario, age 92, of Katy, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. John was born March 28, 1930.
A rosary service for John will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community, 1530 Norwalk Dr, Katy, TX 77450, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
