On Sunday evening, July 10, 2022 at 8:00 p.m., Janice Scott Washington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 7th 1955 to the parentage of James Clay and Ethel Lee Scott.
Janice was educated in the San Antonio school system and graduated from John Jay High School in 1974. She went on to receive her BA degree in 1980 from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Janice traveled to Turkey with her family where her father was stationed in Ankara. She learned parts of the Turkish language and was proud to speak it from time to time. Janice spent her professional career working in the banking industry at RBC, Bank United, Fiserv, and Amegy Bank where she recently retired, working in the construction loans department.
She was added to the Lord’s church at an early age and was a faithful member of the church of Christ at Bridgewater in Katy, Texas, where her husband served as an elder. Janice was a devoted wife and mother. She married her beloved husband Andre Washington on July 4, 1981 and gave birth to their daughter, Angela Renee on October 2, 1985 whom she adored.
Janice was very family-oriented and cherished quality time with family and friends. She was known to her family as a true “techie” and was very mechanically minded. She was talented at finding solutions to electronic problems. She was an excellent cook and very creative. She enjoyed home décor especially during the holidays. Above all, she loved sharing Christ with those she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents James Clay Scott and Ethel Lee Scott of San Antonio Texas. She leaves to cherish her precious memory: Her devoted husband of 41 years Andre; her daughter Angela Richardson; her son-in-law LaDarien Richardson; her two beloved grandchildren, Landon and Amari Richardson; five siblings, Tony (Karen) Scott, Barbara (Dennis) Ramsey, Jimmy (Phyllis) Scott, Michael (Ana) Scott, Teresa (David)
Berkley, and a dearly beloved mother in-law Lillian Washington who she affectionately called “Mom”, and father in-law as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who she loved dearly.
II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.”
We are most thankful for the kind and loving care given to Janice by the Medical Teams at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Methodist West Hospital (Katy).
