William Michael Lanning

Our dear son and brother, William M. Lanning, passed away on January 26th, at the age of 40. He was born June 28th, 1982 to Jim and Sandy. William was the second youngest of eleven children. He attended Arch Bishop O’Hara High School. He was a good athlete in high school and was a rare four year varsity starter in football. He earned a college degree and later proudly joined his father and two brothers, Jim and Brian, in the pipe fitters union.

William loved his two dogs, Hooch and Karen, and he loved cars. He had a kind heart and in his final days he was the primary care giver for his dad, who had recently been hospitalized. He will be missed dearly.

William is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Lanning and sister, Lisa Steiner. He is survived by his parents, James and Saundra Lanning; siblings, John Lanning (Lindsay), Catherine Caywood (John), Kim Dew (Darin), Patrick Lanning (Tara), Bridget Kratofil (Steven), Christen Dusselier (Bob), Mary Werner (Chad), and Brian Lanning (Tracey); as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In honor of William’s life, a private family service was held on Monday, February 13th, 2023 at McGilley Funeral Home chapel on State Line, Kansas City, Missouri.
