Waltraut “Wally” Harrison, 83 of Gladstone, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2022. Wally was born March 17, 1939, in Posnan, Germany to Adolf and Irma Kisro. Her mother Irma, moved Wally and her brother Horst to Canada in 1949, proceeding the death of her father, Adolf, in the line of service during WWII. They settled in the small town of Dinorwic, Ontario where she grew up before moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario where she became an LPN.
Wally left Thunder Bay to move back to Dinorwic, to begin her life with Ben. They operated Allen Water Hunting & Fishing Resort, before moving to the United States in 1971 where they started a new life for themselves and their children in Belton, Missouri. Ben worked construction while Wally was a stay at home mom, all while raising 4 girls.
After working for many years for Sanders Plumbing & Heating, Ben and Wally relocated to Minnesota to then retired and return to Canada to spend their golden years in a home by the lake that Ben built. Ben and Wally enjoyed their retired years hunting and fishing before returning to Missouri where they built their retirement home in Gladstone in 2018. After Ben passed away in 2019, Wally continued to live in their home and enjoyed her life before she became ill in 2021.
Wally is survived by her daughters Rosemarie Harrison, of Kansas City, MO, and Lisa (Scott) Scheerhoorn, of Eden Prairie, MN. Along with her grandchildren: Cheyanne, Dalton, Rhys, Sterling and many nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska. Wally is preceded in death by her husband Ben Harrison, daughter Norine Harrison, her parents, and brother Horst Kisro.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at KC Hospice, KU Medical Center, and St. Lukes Health System.
Visitation and Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home on Friday June 24, 2022, with visitation at 1:00 pm. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, followed by graveside burial at the Floral Hills Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter.
