Virginia Rose Whitaker, 94, passed away January 16, 2016 at the home of her daughter. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Thursday, January 21st at St. Gabriel Catholic Church where a visitation will begin at 8:30 AM and sharing of memories at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery of Lenexa, KS. Contributions are suggested to St. Gabriel Parish or NorthCare Hospice.
Virginia was born October 24, 1921 in Cameron, MO but lived most of her life in Kansas City. She was a member of St. Gabriel Parish since 1961 and was especially proud of her Irish-Catholic heritage. Her faith sustained her through many of life crises including the death of her husband and 4 children. Virginia was a devoted mother who loved her family so much. She was a member of the Dames and Dolls Red Hat Society, an excellent cook and seamstress and until the end worked the jumble and crossword puzzles in the Kansas City Star. She truly loved people and people loved her. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister; her spouse, Dale; and children, Patrick Allen, Jackie Charles, Deborah Jean and Michael Jessie.
Virginia is survived by children, James Whitaker, Mary Ann Craft, Dianna Whitaker; and many grandchildren.
