Victor Lee King, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Living in Overland Park, KS. He was 92 years of age. Victor was born on April 3, 1925 in Grain Valley, MO to Robert and Ethel King. After graduation from William Chrisman High School, he served in the Army during WWII, based in the South Pacific. After his military service was completed, Victor found employment at The Union Station in Kansas City, MO where he met the love of his life, Alice Ann Strifler. The couple married on December 16, 1961; enjoying fifty-five years of marriage. Later, Victor became a small business owner of a cleaning service. During this time, the couple raised two daughters, Lee Ann and Mary Louise. Victor was an active member of his church and a Shriner. Victor loved making people laugh by telling jokes. He loved meeting new people and every person he met was a potential new friend. He had a natural gift at landscaping and loved working in the yard. Victor had a great love of animals, especially dogs. Upon retirement, Victor spent many hours volunteering at St. Joseph Heath Center. He considered his faith and family his greatest blessings. Victor is survived by daughters, Lee Ann Thorp (Ed) Olathe, KS, Mary Sibert (Michael) Peculiar, MO; three granddaughters, Rachael, Rebecca (Kevin), and Cara; four grandsons, Lev, Misha, Luke, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by wife Alice; parents Robert and Ethel, and 5 older siblings. A memorial service for Victor will be held at Mt. Moriah Chapel of Hope Mausoleum, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64145 on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Victor’s favorite charities: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
