Vicki June Ferris

Vicki June (Wyett) Ferris, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Visitation at 10am, and memorial service at 11am, Thursday, June 8, at Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church, 7406 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Vicki was born March 24, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL to Harmon and Carolyn (Leininger) Wyett. She grew up in the KC area, where she attended First Baptist Church of KC for many years. After her marriage she attended Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church as well as Church of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Evergreen, CO. She graduated from Raytown South High School in 1965 and UMKC with a degree in Education in 1969. She married Stephen William Ferris in 1969. She taught second grade, taught preschool music, and was choir Director at Church of the Hills in Evergreen, CO.

Vicki was beloved by all who met her for her giving and faithful spirit. Her talent was extensive; her incredible needlepoint, her love of music, from performing to directing. Inspired by the grandeur of the magnificent Colorado Rockies, she developed her writing skills including numerous poems and inspirational essays, including several "Faith Walk" sections of the Kansas City Star. She fought her bout with cancer with with dignity and courage. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Debra Wright. She leaves her husband of nearly 54 years, Stephen, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
