Thomas Joseph Green II

Thomas (TJ) Joseph Green (60), second of his name, the restless, the unshackled, king of the Strike Market bowling alley, master of trivia, aggravator to authority. He smoked meats and Marlboros, exploded subwoofers, lit fireworks, squealed tires, crushed board games, and conjured plans.

He found himself by motorcycle across the Great Plains, the Badlands, and the ever approaching mountains.

He found peace in his family. And love. And laughter.

He had peace, but never asked for quiet. He belonged in the wild and among the storms. He is now, as ever, somewhere free.

TJ, of Lee’s Summit, MO was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 4, 1963 the son of Dr. Thomas F. Green and Helen Johnson Priestly. He died peacefully at KU Med Center on November 18, 2023. He has lived in Nebraska, California, Kansas, and Missouri. He attended Rockhurst High School.

TJ is survived by his mother Helen (Jim) Priestly of Lee’s Summit, MO; his children Athena (Adam) Fron of Urbandale IA; Amanda (Jared) McPherson of Centennial, CO; Tom Green of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren Mika, Tessa, and Owen; two brothers James Green of Henderson, NV; Ted (Susan) Green of Lee’s Summit, MO; a sister Carly (Brian) Keeney of Gardner, KS; a step-sister Nichelle (Mark) Unterriener of North Kansas City, MO; aunts and uncles; cousins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Thomas Green.

A private Memorial Mass is scheduled the morning of December 5, 2023. A Celebration of Life is to be held at his home on Tuesday, December 5, from 3-5 pm at 3515 NE Lacewood Circle, Lee’s Summit, MO. All are welcome! Burial in Crookston, MN at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to Our Lady of the Presentation Future Project Fund, Lee’s Summit, MO.
